The Journey of Hakima’s Hijama
When Manager and Certified Hijama Practitioner Moqadisa, first heard of hijama as a medical treatment that the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him) used to practise on himself, she was fascinated. She then learned that hijama (also known as wet cupping), was a recommendation by the Angels to the Prophet (peace be upon him) as he was ascending between the heavens during the Night Journey. This further intrigued Moqadisa to find out exactly what hijama is, and to try this ancient sunnah (teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)) method on herself.
The difficulty for Moqadisa however was to find a qualified female that practises and performs hijama in Perth. There were a few, however it was difficult finding a practitioner that was readily available to take on clients as most were working part time or did not have a clinic, and had to treat clients at their house. Moqadisa then saw this as an opportunity for her to fill the gap in a niche market, especially having had experience of being a hijama client herself, and knowing how beneficial this holistic treatment is. Whilst Hijama is not widely known in the western world, Moqadisa feels the need to share and educate as many people on this safe and holistic method of treatment, and revive the forgotten sunnah ( teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him)) that was once recommended to the Prophet by the Angels.
What is Hijama?
Hijama is derived from the Arabic word “Hijm” which means ‘to suck’ and to ‘return to a normal state’ of internal balance. Blood is drawn by vacuum from a small superficial skin incision for therapeutic purposes. Wet cupping is a holistic, super powerful detox which removes toxins and stagnant blood from your body. This has been practiced for thousands of years.Over the years it has spread to many nations around the world including Europe, Africa, Russia, Middle East, Central, South and South East Asia and USA.

How does it work?
Wet Cupping therapy consists of using suction cups to pull the skin away from the body. A pump is used to create suction inside the cup, thus resulting in a powerful negative pressure which sucks up the components within the tissues and muscles and causes vasodilatation (the dilatation of blood vessels, which decreases blood pressure). Thus, there is a dramatic increase in blood and lymph circulation. The aim is to extract stagnated (where there’s stagnation, there will be pain. remove the stagnation, and you remove the pain) or congested blood from certain points around the body.
